Marla Gibbs Bio

Marla Gibbs is an actress born on 14th June 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She is best known for playing Florence Johnson in the sitcom “The Jeffersons” from 1975 to 1985. She started her career in 1968 with the family comedy-drama film “Yours, Mine, and Yours”. In 1973, she appeared as Beverly Solomon in the action film “Sweet Jesus, Preacherman”. In 1975, she landed the role of the family’s maid Florence Johnson in the comedy television series “The Jeffersons. Her performance in the series earned her five nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

She went on to play support film roles in “Touched by an Angel”, “The Fresh Prince or Bel-Air”, “Southland”, “Judging Amy”, and “ER”. In 2015, she appeared in the drama series “Scandal”, and later made guest appearances in “This Is Us”, and “Hot in Cleveland”. In 2021, she started playing the recurring role of Olivia Price in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives”.
