Martin Lawrence Bio

Martin Lawrence was born on April 16, 1965 in Frankfurt, West Germany. He began his career at The Improv, doing so well that he won a spot on Star Search. After his first show What’s Happening Now!! was cancelled, Lawrence worked bit parts for different films and comedy shows. He starred in his own series, Martin, from 1992 to 1997, which was hugely successful. Following the end of Martin, Lawrence took supporting roles in comedy films such as Nothing to Lose, Big Momma’s House and Black Knight.

He later starred in the two Big Momma’s House sequels. His work on Bad Boys earned him MTV Movie Award nominations. His film Life also was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. In addition to starring in several movies, he executive produced the Big Momma’s House movies and Rebound.
