Mashrou’ Leila (also known as Mashrou3 Leila) is a Lebanese rock band formed in 2008 in Beirut, Beyrouth, Lebanon. The founding members of the band include Hamed Sinno (vocals), Haig Papazian (violin), Carl Gerges (drums), Firas Abou Fakher (guitar), Ibrahim Badr (bass guitar), Omaya Malaeb (keyboards), Andre Chedid (guitar).
The group got together at the American University of Beirut in 2008 and they have since performed in Lebanon, playing in various event venues in Beirut, Zahle, Sour, Jounieh, Saida, and Deir al Qamar. The group won the Lebanese Modern Music Content jury prize and public vote in March 2009. The content was organized by Radio Liban in partnership with CCF, Incognito and the Basement. Their debut album dropped in December that same year and it was huge. July the next year saw the band headlining Byblos International Music Festivals alongside the Gorillaz and Caetano Veloso. In fall 2010/11 they appeared at the Doha Tribeca International Film Festival and at the Vodafone Big Day Out.
Summer 2011 say the release of their five-song EP el Hal Romancy, and two years later they dropped their third album Raasük in August, recorded at the Hotel 2 Tango in Montreal.
