Mathieu van der Poel is a Dutch professional cyclist who competes in the cyclo-cross, mountain bike racing, gravel cycling, and road bicycle racing disciplines. He was born in Kapellen, Flanders, Belgium, on January 19, 1995.
Mathieu has been an impressive cyclist from a young age, winning his first cyclo-cross race at just 15 years old. He has since become a dominant force in the sport, winning three UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, seven Dutch National Cyclo-cross Championships, and numerous other titles.
In addition to his success in cyclo-cross, van der Poel has also achieved success in mountain bike racing, winning a gold medal in the 2019 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. He has also competed in road bicycle racing, including the prestigious Tour de France, and has won several stages of the Tour of Britain and the Tour of California.
