Matthew Charles Turner is a professional soccer player born on June 24, 1994, in Park Ridge, New Jersey, USA. He spent his college career with the Fairfield Stags from 2012 to 2015, making 39 appearances. Matt played at Jersey Express between 2015 and 2016 before joining New England Revolution in 2016. During this period, he spent two seasons on loan with the Richmond Kickers of the USL.
In 2021, Matt won the MLS Supporters Shield with the New England Revolution, while earning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, MLS All-Star Game MVP, and MLS Best XI honors. He became the first US Men's National Team goalkeeper to save a penalty kick in their international debut in January 2021. In 2021, he finished as runner-up to Christian Pulisic for the BioSteel U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year.
Matt kept five clean sheets at the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup to earn the CONCACAF Gold Cup Golden Glove Award and CONCACAF Gold Cup Best XI. He leads all USMNT goalkeepers for most clean sheets through their first 20 caps. The goalkeeper joined Arsenal on June 27, 2022.
