Matteo Berrettini is a professional tennis player born in Rome, Lazio, Italy, on April 12, 1996. He started playing tennis at age 4, making his professional debut in 2015. In 2018, he won his first ATP title at the Swiss Open Gstaad, defeating Roberto Bautista Agut. Vincenzo Santopadre coaches him.
Matteo was the 2019 ATP Most Improved Player of the Year. He became the first Italian to earn a singles win in tournament history at the 2019 Nitto ATP Finals. Matteo defeated Dominic Thiem to qualify for the 2021 ATP Cup team final. He has won seven singles titles and two doubles titles.
