Matthew Dear was born in Kingsville, Texas on April 4, 1979. He also goes by the stage name Jabberjaw, False, and Audion. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan. In 2003, he released the album Leave Luck to Heaven followed by Backstroke in 2004. In 2007, he released Asa Breed and the EP Don and Sherri both under Ghostly International. Asa Breed Black Edition and Pom Pom both dropped in 2008 still under the same label. Dear released another album, Black City, in 2010 followed by Beams in 2012. In 2018, he released the album Bunny. Dear was also the featured artist on Lane 8‘s “Undercover.” Some of his most popular tracks include “Bad Ones” featuring Tegan and Sara, “What You Don’t Know,” “Modafinil Blues,” and “Dog Days.”
