Born as John Matthew Stafford, on February 7, 1988, in Tampa, Florida, Matthew Stafford is a popular American football player playing on the position quarterback for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). Upon his birth, Matthew Stafford and his family moved to Dallas, Texas, where he attended Highland Park High School and started playing football, where he was considered to be one of the best high school quarterbacks in the United States in the Class of 2006. Later he attended the University of Georgia, where he played college football. In the 2008 NFL Draft, Matthew Stafford was drafted first overall by the Detroit Lions, signing a $41.7 million six-year contract with them, which was the highest guaranteed rated contact that has been signed until 2010.
