Maura Tierney is an American actress born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1965. She trained at the New York University and joined the Circle-in-the-Square company. After taking part in some plays, she moved to Los Angeles and found minor roles on TV in the late 1980s, including "Growing Pains" and "Law & Order." She had her first film lead role in 1991's "Dead Women in Lingerie," and also portrayed Lisa Miller on the series "News Radio" in 1995. After her tenure in this show, Tierney found her way into comedy, and landed a leading role in Jim Carrey's "Liar Liar" (1997), while also appearing in Hollywood dramas like "Primal Fear." She would go on to collaborate with stars like Al Pacino, Will Ferrell and Steve Carell, while also maintaining a presence with recurring roles in TV series like "ER" and "The Good Wife".
