Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is an American music supergroup that was founded in 1995 in San Francisco, California, United States. The founding members of the group include Chris Shiflett, David Raun, Fat Mike, Joey Cape, and Spike Slawson.
The group’s debut effort Have a Ball dropped in 1997 and Are a Drag followed two years later. The latter album was a hit on College radios making the band famous in addition to their renditions on popular show tunes. The band reworked some bubblegum classics from the ‘60s and ‘70s into the collection Blow in the Wind. Take a Break (another album) appeared in 2003. Love Their Country appeared much later, covering everyone from Dixie Chicks to Johnny Cash to the Eagles. Hanuk-Comp appeared in 2007, Have Another Ball! followed in July the next year. The EP Go Down Under appeared in 2011 and the band’s eighth album Are We Not Me? We Are Diva! dropped in 2014. Three years later, they released their greatest-hits collection Rake It In.
