Meera Syal Bio

Meera Syal CBE FRSL, born in Feroza Syal, is an English actress, comedian, writer, and singer best known for her work in film, television, and theatre. She was born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, on June 27, 1961.

Meera began her acting career in 1984 when she was cast in the film Majdhar, but she became famous in the late 1990s and early 2000s when she starred in the TV series Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No. 42. She has since had recurring roles in the TV series The Devil's Hour, The Split, Code 404, Broadchurch, The Kumars, Tinga Tinga Tales, Tinga Tinga Tales, and Horrible Histories. Meera’s filmography includes Beautiful Thing, Absolutely Anything, Anita & Me, A Little Princess, All in Good Time, and Yesterday, which features Himesh Patel, Lily James, Sophia Di Martino, and Ellise Chappell.
