Mehcad Jason McKinley Brooks, better known as Mehcad Brooks, is an American actor who was born on October 25, 1980, in Austin, Texas. After turning down his basketball scholarships and his full academic scholarship to Yale, he pursued his dream of studying at the University of Southern California to study in their School of Cinematic Arts. In 2005, Brooks got his big break in television when he was cast to play the role of Matthew Applewhite for its second season on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”, and this role earned Brooks a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series; and got him a nomination for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor. He also played the role Terrance “TK” King in “Necessary Roughness” from 2011 until 2013, and James Olsen in the CBS and CW’s TV series “Supergirl”, opposite Melissa Benoist. On the film front, Mehcad starred in Netflix’s 2020 thriller “A Fall from Grace”, “Nobody’s Fool” opposite Tika Sumpter, Tiffany Haddish and Whoopi Goldberg. Brooks also played roles in movies such as “About Last Night”, “Just Wright” and “Glory Road”.
