Mekhi Phifer Bio

Mekhi Phifer is an American actor born on December 29, 1974, in Harlem, New York City, USA. He is best known for his roles in NBC medical drama ER, and FOX’s Lie To Me. He also starred in CW’s Frequency, and co-starred in the 2002 movie 8 Mile, alongside Eminem. 

Mekhi’s acting career began when he was selected for the leading role in Spike Lee’s Clockers in 1995, alongside Delroy Lindo and Harvey Keitel. In 1996, he appeared in the comedy High School High, and in 1998 in the famous thriller, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Other popular roles include in movies like Soul Food in 1997, Paid in Full in 2002, O in 2001, Carmen: A Hip Hopera in 2001, and many more. He has been honored by the American Black Film Festival, receiving the Rising Star Award. His role in the HBO Original Movie, A Lesson Before Dying in 1999, earned him an NAACP Image Award Nomination. Other popular works include Honey in 2003 alongside Jessica Alba, Down of the Dead in 2004, and Slow Burn in 2005 alongside Ray Liotta.
