Born in May 29, 1961, Melissa Lou Etheridge came from Leavenworth, Kansas. She is known for her rock music. She became popular during the ‘90s. She first learned her music at the age of eight when she started playing guitar and wrote her own songs. She played in local bands during her teenage years. She studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
She caught attention of Bill Leopold which signed as her manager. Etheridge’s career began to take a leap as she was able to get steady gigs. There was even a bidding war between three major record labels like A&M, Capitol, EMI, and Warner Bros. to take her in. However, she chose Island Records. Her self-titled debut was issued in 1988.
