Michael James Scott is a performer, actor, and singer, born on 24th May 1981 in Florida, USA. He is well known for his Broadway performance as "The Genie" in Disney's Aladdin, as well as his television performances on Black Monday and South Park. His career began in 2003 when he filled in for Ben Vereen on the international tour of Fosse. Scott made his Broadway debut in 2005 with the musical All Shook Up.
Since then, he has appeared in a number of Broadway musicals, notably "The Minstrel" in Something Rotten and Dr Gotswana, also known as The Guy with the Maggot Problem, in The Book of Mormon, a Tony-winning mega-hit. Mamma Mia, The Pirate Queen, Elf, Tarzan, All Shook Up, and Hair are among his other Broadway credits. In 2016, Scott originated the character of Genie in the Australian version of Disney's musical Aladdin, and he got a Helpmann Award in 2017 for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical. In 2020, he released his first album, "A Fierce Christmas".
