Michael John Douglas, who goes by his stage name Michael Keaton, was born on September 5, 1951 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. After a string of small projects, he had his breakout role in Mr. Mom (1983), which launched his film career. His range as an actor includes playing the iconic superhero Batman in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), Beetlejuice (1988), Birdman (2014) which he received the Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, Spotlight (2016) which won Best Picture the year after Birdman, and the villain in Spider-man: Homecoming (2017). Keaton hosted three episodes of Saturday Night Live and holds an honorary degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Fine Arts. He is also active in politics, endorsing Barack Obama during his campaign for a second term in 2012 and Bernie Sanders in 2016.
