Michael Monroe, born Matti Antero Kristian Fagerholm, is a Finnish singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist rock musician who was born on June 17, 1962, in Helsinki. He began his career playing in a small band called Madness in 1976. He created the band Hanoi Rocks in 1979 alongside guitarist Nasty Suicide. Later guitarist Andy McCoy, bassist Sam Yaffa, and drummer Gyp Casino joined. The band released its first album called Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks in 1981 and moved to London in 1982, where they released their second album Oriental Beat. They fired the drummer and Razzle took its place. They later released Self Destruction Blues and Back to Mystery City followed in 1983. The band parted ways in 1985 and Michael Monroe started his solo career, releasing his first album Nights are so Long in 1987 and his second in 1988. Not Fakin' It album followed in 1989 and it featured musical artists Steve Van Zandt and Ian Hunter and ranked 161 on the US Billboard chart.
