Michael Waltrip is a former American professional stock car racing driver, team owner, and racing commentator. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, United States, on April 30, 1963.
Michael began his racing career in the late 1980s, competing in the NASCAR Busch Series. In 1991, Waltrip made his debut in the NASCAR Cup Series, and throughout his career, he amassed four Cup Series victories, including two prestigious Daytona 500 wins in 2001 and 2003. He also won 11 races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Following his retirement from racing in 2017, Waltrip became a television analyst, providing commentary for Fox Sports’ coverage of NASCAR races, and he has been a recurring figure on the shows NASCAR on TNT, NASCAR on ESPN, NBC NASCAR, and NASCAR on Fox, which also features Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, and Ryan Newman.
