Michelle Branch, born Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch on July 2nd, 1983 in Sedona, Arizona is an American singer and actress that began to sing and learn guitar at the age of 3. In 1999 she submitted two of her songs to the Rolling Stone website and caught the attention of the band Hanson and record producer Jeff Rabhan. In 2000 she opened up for the band Hanson at two of their shows.
In 2000 Michelle Branch released her first album Broken Bracelet on the independent record label Twin Dragon Records. The next year Michelle signed a record deal with Maverick Records and released her debut album The Spirit Room. The single “Everywhere” from her debut album won a MTV Video Music Viewer’s Choice Award. She was also featured on Hanson’s 2004 song “Deeper.”
In 2002, Branch released the song “The Game of Love” alongside legendary guitarist Santana. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. In 2003 her next album Hotel Paper debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum after selling over a million copies. In 2005 Michelle and her backup singer, Jessica Harp, formed the duo called The Wreckers and released the album Stand Still, Look Pretty.
