Michelle Kwan is a figure skater born on 7th July 1980 in Torrance, California. Her interest in skating started at an early age. She began training seriously at the age of eight. However, her parents had to seek financial help to pay for Kwan’s training. In 1991, she started training with Frank Carroll, and after one year, she was ranked ninth at the United States Figure Skating Championship.
Before joining any Olympics competitions, Kwan had already become a force to be reckoned with in the figure skating world. She went on to win world titles in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, and 2003. She won Gold at the United States Nationals and bronze at the 2004 World Championships. Due to a groin injury, she was forced to withdraw from the Olympic Games in Italy.
