Michelle Yeoh Bio

Michelle Yeoh is a Malaysian actress. She was born Michelle Yeoh Choo-Kheng on the 6th of August, 1962, in Ipoh, Federation of Malaya. She rose to fame after she won the Miss Malaysia pageant of 1983. She started her film career when she starred in martial arts movies like “Yes, Madam” in 1985, for which she got nominated at the Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Performer. She became known in the industry for performing her own stunts. She acted in many movies such as “Tomorrow Never Dies”, “The Soong Sisters” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, for which she received many nominations including Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at the 2001 BAFTA Film Award. In 2001 she also won the ShoWest Award for International Star of the Year. In 2013, she won the Outstanding Contribution to Asian Cinema Award. In 2019 she performed in the acclaimed comedy “Crazy Rich Asians” for which she received the Asian Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema.
