International superstar Mick Jagger was born Michael Philip Jagger in Kent, England, on July 26, 1943. Growing up, he was known to always be singing, although he was expected to become a teacher like the other males in his family. After meeting guitarist Brian Jones and rekindling his primary school friendship with Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and the musicians performed for the first time as the “Rollin’ Stones” at a jazz club in 1962. The 1960s saw their eventual discovery, name change to The Rolling Stones, and the release of a variety of very successful albums.
Mick Jagger started his solo career in the mid-1980s, although he was still recording and touring with his band. He would go on to release She’s the Boss in 1985 – an album which went Platinum in the United States- followed by Primitive Cool in 1987 and Wandering Spirit in 1993. As a solo artist, he appeared and collaborated with a number of other musicians and singers, including Lenny Kravitz, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Will.I.Am, Jeff Beck, and many more. In 2002, Mick Jagger was honored as a Knight Bachelor for his services to music, the year after he released his fourth album Goddess in the Doorway.
