Midge Ure Bio
Midge Ure is a singer and songwriter born on 10th October 1953 in Cambuslang, Scotland, United Kingdom. He began his career as a vocalist/guitarist for the band Salvation in 1972. When one of the band’s founders, Kevin McGinlay, left in April 1974, Ure took up the vocals duties. The band changed its name to Slik in November 1974. Their single “Forever and Ever” made it to the UK Singles Chart in 1976.
Ure left the band and joined a punk-pop group called the Rich Kids. They only released one album, titled “Ghosts of Princes in Towers,” in 1978. He released a solo single in 1982, which was a cover of “No Regrets'' by the Walk Brothers. In 1985, he released his first album, titled “The Gift,” which ranked number two in the UK Albums charts. He also played a role in writing “Yellow Pearly'' by Lynott.
