The Military Wives Choirs is a charity and network of 75 choirs all around British and overseas military bases in order to bring together the women in the military community together through the act of singing. Any mother, sister, wife, and daughter of those currently serving veterans are free to join the Military Wives Choirs. In addition, the Military Wives Choirs is a subsidiary charity of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Families Association (SSAFA). The first Military Wives Choir was founded by two Scot Guards wives in 2010 in Catterick Garrison. Another choir in Chivenor, Malone and then another in Royal Citadel, Plymouth was formed as well. Soon, many other choirs around the UK and overseas were formed as well. A BBC television series called The Choir: Military Wives started broadcasting as well. In 2012, the official charity organization was formed as well.
