MJ Rodriguez Bio

Mj Rodriguez is an American transgender actress and singer. She was born on the 7th of January, 1991, in Newark, New Jersey. She started her theatre career in a production of “Rent” alongside Annaleigh Ashford. Her performance earned her the 2011 Clive Barnes Award. She started appearing in television series such as “Nurse Jackie”, “Luke Cage” and “The Carrie Diaries” in 2017. She played in several Broadway productions such as “Encores!”, “Street Children” and “Burn All Night”. She also landed a role in the indie movie “Saturday Church” which earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. At the same year, she landed the leading role of the FX’s series “Pose” created by Ryan Murphy, Steven Canals and Brad Falchuk. In 2019, she played Audrey in the horror comedy musical “Little Shop of Horrors”.
