R&B singer MK XYZ, born Makaila Garcia in Jacksonville, scored a breakout hit with her single Pass It featuring G-Eazy. MK XYZ grew up inspired by TLC, Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, Ciara, Sade, Toni Braxton, Prince, Chris Brown, and Michael Jackson. She’s been singing and dancing since a young age, and channelled her talents to performances uploaded to YouTube. Formerly known as Soul Floetry, she started uploading covers of songs on her social media, which caught the attention of Grammy-winning record producer Tricky Stewart. Garcia visited Stewart’s Atlanta studio where she met Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone, and landed a record deal.
