MNEK Bio

Singer-songwriter and record producer MNEK was born Uzoechi Osisioma Emenike on November 9, 1994 in Lewisham, London, England where he started making music in his bedroom at the age of 9. MNEK has writing and producing credits on songs by Chris Malinchak, Bondax, Becky Hill, Karen Harding, Billon, Tieks, Naughty Boy and Little Mix’s as well as Oliver Heldon’s “Gecko” which debuted at Number 1 on both the UK Singles Chart and UK Dance Chart. He has also remixed songs for Duran Duran, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez and George Michael. MNEK is featured on Rudimental’s single “Spoons” with Syron and Gorgon City’s “Ready for Your Love” which reached Number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2013, he was nominated for a Grammy for co-writing the hit song “Need You (100 %.)” by Duke Dumont featuring A*M*E.

MNEK is expected to release his first album in 2014 containing collaborations with Moko, Snakehips and Jimmy Napes. His first single “Wrote a Song About You” premiered on June 13, 2014 yet he also released the promotional single “In Your Clouds” as part of an iTunes Ones to Watch campaign. This song will also feature on his debut album.
