Monique Lhuiller is a Philippine fashion designer who was born on September 15, 1971, in Cebu City, Cebu. She studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and after graduating, she got a job at Melivier, a sportswear company, but realized they weren’t supportive of artistic thinking. She met her now-husband, Tom Bugbee, while studying at the fashion institute. Lhuiller began looking for the perfect wedding dress in 1995, but she noticed a lack of fashionable bridal wear. Her expectations were sort of met with one of the dresses, but she designed the dresses for her friends and family to wear. This led to Monique launching her debut bridal line in 1996, which was financially supported by her parents, and the line was praised. She then established, alongside her husband, her company, Monique Lhuillier, which continues to design feminine and modern clothes. She has dressed celebrities for their weddings and for red carpets, such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift, Michelle Obama, Emma Stone, and Blake Lively.
