Morgan Heritage, often called “The Royal Family of Reggae” is a Jamaican-based reggae band created by five of reggae musician Denroy Morgan’s children. Considered to be one of the most influential reggae bands of the modern day, Morgan Heritage blends traditional roots reggae with the sounds of R&B, pop, and dancehall to form their own unique sound. The band consists of siblings Peetah (vocals), Una (keyboard/vocals), Nakhamyah “Lukes” (rhythym guitar), Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” (percussion/vocals), and Roy “Gramps” Morgan (keyboard/vocals).
Since their debut album, Miracles, released in 1994, Morgan Heritage has prolifically released one hit album after another. Protect Us Jah released in 1997, followed by 1998’s One Calling. 1999’s Don’t Haffi Dreads was followed in 2001 by More Teachings, and in 2003 by Three In One.
The list of artists Morgan Heritage has collaborated with during their career is extensive. Just a few of those numerous artists include: Shaggy, Capleton, J-Boog, Beres Hammond, Jemere Morgan, Jo Mersa Marley, Chronixx, Rebelution, and SOJA.
