Morgan James, born Morgan Grunerud on November 24th, 1981 in Boise, Idaho is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Morgan began acting and singing in her school choir in junior high school. She attended The Julliard School in New York City where she studied opera and earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice in 2003.
In 2010 she began to act on the Broadway musical production of The Addams family. At the time she also moonlighted as a solo musical artist. She played at numerous New York clubs and released her debut solo album called Morgan James Live: A Celebration of Nina Simone. The album was released on the label Epic Records.
Her first studio album was released in 2014 and is called Hunter. The album contains all original material except for a cover of Prince’s song “Call My Name.” In 2016 Morgan released her second cover album called Blue. The album paid homage to Joni Mitchell’s music. In 2017 she released her second solo album with original material called Reckless Abandon.
