Morae Ruffin, also known as Morray, is an American melodic rapper born in 1992 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He started singing at his local church as a child, however, he started truly exploring his songwriting skills in 2020, when he wrote and released his debut single “Quicksand.” The song quickly garnered more than 10 million views on YouTube, and was included in lists like Spotify’s “Rap Caviar,” “The Realest Down South,” and “Most Necessary” playlists, and also on Apple Music’s “Rap Life” playlist. Critical acclaim also came from artists like J. Cole, Rick Ross, and Jay-Z, and from specialized media like SPIN magazine. Having consolidated his YouTube audience, Morray followed up later in the year with more singles. In December, Mourray was considered one of the best artists of that month by Pigeons & Planes, and by early 2021 the artist issued one more single titled “Big Decisions.”
