Peter Okoye (18 November 1981), also known as Mr P, is an Nigerian singer hailing from Dunu in Anambra State of Nigeria. He is widely known for his afrobeat sound and dance floor anthems as the other half of duo, P Square, with his brother Paul Okoye. Peter was also the P Square’s dance lead. In 2012, the duo was signed to Universal Music South Africa in 2012. The duo have a huge discography of 12 albums, with their most popular album being their 2014 release, ‘Double Trouble’ with their most played song, ‘Personally – Bonus’ with 17 million plays on Spotify. In 2016, P Square disbanded and Peter Okoye, pursued his solo career under the new alias, Mr P, releasing his first debut album since his departure from P Square, titled ‘Paranoia’. Mr P stuck to his afrobeat and R&B sound and won his first award as Best Solo Artist in 2017 by the International Achievement Recognition Awards. In 2019, Mr P released a single, ‘One More Night’ featuring artist Niniola along with a music video on YouTube that has 9.3 million views. The now 36 year-old released his most recent album just this year titled ‘The Dack’, a 7 track hip-hop afrobeat album.
