Múm is an Icelandic indietronica band known for their delicate vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a wide range of traditional and unorthodox instruments.
Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason founded the band in 1997, and were later joined by twin sisters Gya and Kristn Anna Valtsdóttir.
The band's name, according to Kristn, was not supposed to mean anything. Gya departed the band following the release of Finally We Are No One to return to her studies. Kristn also quit the band in early 2006, however it was not officially revealed until November 23 of that year.
