Musiq Soulchild, born Taalib Johnson (September 16, 1977) is an American jazz, funk and R&B singer from Philadelsphia, Pennsylvania. Musiq Soulchild had his most prevalent days in the 2000s and is popularly known for his major R&B hit ‘Just Friends (Sunny)’. His hit single was featured on the soundtrack for the movie ‘Nutty Professor II: The Klumps’ and reached number 6 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Musiq Soulchild released his debut album in 2000 titled ‘Aijuswanaseeing’ which included ‘Just Friends (Sunny’) and his second hit single, ‘Love’. Musiq Soulchild released his second album, ‘Justlisen’ in 2002, which has a successful debut hitting number one on the Billboard 200. The album also received a platinum certification with popular hits such as ‘Halfcrazy’ and ‘Dontchange’. His fourth album, ‘Soulstar’ in 2003 followed by ‘Luvanmusiq’ in 2007 then ‘On My Radio’ in 2008. In 2013, Musiq went independent, signing with Block Records. With Block Records he released an EP titled ‘The Husel’ in 2014 and ‘Life on Earth’ in 2016. He then went on to release his most recent album, ‘Feel The Real’ in 2017 which was Grammy nominated for Best R&B Album. As a prominent R&B artist, Musiq has worked with several artists such as Mary J. Blige, Ice Cube and Kehlani. Throughout his career, he has received high praise, receiving nominations from MTV, American Music Awards, Soultrain and 13 Grammys.
