Nathan Lane Bio

Nathan Lane is an American actor in film, TV, and stage, with a career spanning five decades. One of his most memorable roles was as the neurotic and insecure character Albert in the film “The Birdcage” (1996). Lane attended Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia for a drama scholarship. He began his career in New York with stand-up comedy and stage roles, finally debuting on Broadway in 1982. He has continued to work in theater as the main venue of his career.

Nathan Lane’s film credits include roles in “Joe Versus the Volcano” (1990), the voice of Timon in “The Lion King” (1994), “Stuart Little” (1999), and “The Producers” (2005). On stage he’s played roles in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (1978), the role of Toad in “Wind in the Willows” (1985), “Guys and Dolls” (1992), “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” (1996), and the Oscar role in “The Odd Couple” (2005). Lane’s gift for character interpretation and subtly flawed but lovable characters has turned many a role into an iconic performance.
