Nicholas Charles Sparks is an American novelist and screenwriter best known for his romantic books and the movies made about them. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, United States, on December 31, 1965. Nicholas began his writing career as a dare from his mother, and after committing to a career as a writer, he wrote numerous best-selling novels. Nicholas was the writer of the novel and subsequent film The Notebook which featured Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Gena Rowlands, and James Garner. He has authored many other novels that have been turned into movies including Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Last Song, Safe Haven, and The Longest Ride. He received a Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Book.
