Nick Baumgartner is a dual-sport threat (snowboard cross and off-road racing) born on December 17, 1981, in Iron River, Michigan, USA. In 2004, he competed in several competitions, including the SNX at the USASA Nationals and the US Extreme Boardfest. In 2007, he placed first at the event in Tamarack Resort at the US SBX Championships.
His first World Cup victory was at the event in Lake Placid, New York, in 2008. He has participated in five World Championships, including 2009, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 events. In 2009, he participated in the FIS Snowboarding World Championships in Gangwon and won a bronze medal. Similarly, he won a bronze in 2015 and a gold in 2017. In 2010, he finished 13th.
Nick won the World Cup in March 2011. He has competed for the United States at the Olympics, including 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympic Games. He has won his first Olympic Gold Medal along with teammate Lindsey Jacobellis for the Mixed Team Snowboard Crossing. He has participated in the Winter X Games and won a gold in 2011 and a silver in 2012.
