Nicola Benedetti Bio
Nicola Benedetti was born on July 20, 1987 in West Kilbride, Scotland. She began playing the violin when she was four years old, and she was appointed the head of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain when she was eight years old. She was rather brilliant and succeeded in school, which eventually got her accepted into the Yehudi Menuhin School, which is an institution for young musicians.
She was invited to present with both the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Opera in 2009, which she accepted. She then got invited to present for Prince Charles at the London Mozart Players at St. James’s Palace, another invitation she gladly accepted. She has also performed with many other notable groups, including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. One of her biggest achievements came in 2002 when she won the UK’s Brilliant Prodigy Competition. Another achievement was becoming the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition at age 16.
Bendetti has studied under Maciej Rakowski since 2005, who is a very prominent figure in the English orchestra world. She has also received other honors, including a doctorate from Heriot-Watt University and being selected as a Member of the Order of the British Empire due to her charitable works.
