Nicolò Barella is a professional soccer player born in Cagliari, Italy, on February 7, 1997. He was a youth player at the Cagliari Calcio academy from 2006 to 2015. The midfielder made his professional debut for Cagliari in 2015, scoring seven goals in 105 appearances. He played for the Italy U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 teams.
The U19 team was runner-up at the 2016 UEFA European U19 Championship, and the U20 placed third at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup. Nicolo won the 2020 UEFA European Championship with the Italian national team. He joined Inter Milan in 2020, winning the 2020/21 Serie A, the 2021/22 Coppa Italia, and the 2021 Supercoppa Italiana.
Nicolo was a Ballon d'Or nominee in 2021. He has received numerous honors and awards including the Premio Bulgarelli Number 8 (2019), Serie A Best Midfielder (2020/21), Gazzetta Sports Awards Exploit of the Year (2021), and Giuseppe Prisco Award (2022). He made the Serie A Team of the Year for three consecutive seasons.
