Most known for his career as the co-founder and bassist of the group Mötley Crue, Nikki Sixx was born Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna in San Jose, California, on December 11, 1958. After a tumultuous adolescence and being abandoned by his father, she moved to Los Angeles when he was 17 and held a few odd jobs before playing with the group Sister, and later forming the band London. Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee founded Mötley Crue in 1980, and were eventually joined by Mick Mars and Vince Neil to record their debut album Too Fast for Love. With Mötley Crue, Nikki Sixx enjoyed international success and a multitude of popular hits and albums. After going on hiatus, the band reunited in 2004, but Nikki Sixx had already begun to pursue his own projects.
In 2006, Nikki Sixx founded the group Sixx: A.M. flanked by James Michael and DJ Ashba, and together they released the album The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack in 2007, a nod to Nikki Sixx’s struggles with heroin. The bassist also rejoined his Mötley Crue mates for a reunion tour in 2006, a tour with Aerosmith, and to record Mötley Crue’s ninth album titled Saints of Los Angeles in 2008.
