Nina Kraviz Bio
Born in Siberia, DJ, singer, and producer Nina Kraviz grew up listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday with her parents, which formed her first influence when it came to music. In 1996, when she was a young teenager, Nina Kraviz got her own radio and began to listen to a dance and electronic music station called Garage. From that point on, she knew the type of music she wanted to get into. Though she studied to become a dentist in Moscow and even worked as one for about three years, she shifted course to become a music journalist, and had the opportunity to interview Afrika Bambaataa.
Nina Kraviz was signed to the U.K. based Rekids label, through which she released a handful of EPs before her self-titled debut album in 2012. She has since made appearances all over the world as she is now a coveted DJ and is well-respected for her soulful, sultry beats. Nina Kraviz released her follow-up album entitled Mr. Jones in 2013, and then a compilation album in 2014. She frequently collaborates with DJs from the Chicago and Detroit areas, preferring the style of these two cities to any other.
