Co-lead man Noel Gallagher left the band Oasis in August of 2009, having had one too many disputes with his brother Liam, and set about on the long-rumored solo career. That career blossomed into Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, with Noel in the lead man position once again, with touring duty supplied by Gem Archer (guitar), Mike Rowe (keyboard), and Chris Sharrock (drums), all of them former Oasis members themselves. Noel has also recruited Jeremy Stacey, formerly of the band Lemon Trees, and Lenny Castro, both in percussion.
Noel Gallagher keeps true to the spirit of the “Madchester” music culture that spawned Oasis in the first place, as his new solo project is more of a phoenix rising from the ashes of former Oasis than a new band. The High Flying Birds released their debut single titled “If I Had A Gun” in 2011, signing onto the Sour Mash label. So far all three albums released by them have been certified gold or platinum, with most of their singles charting in at least healthy double-digits. Being four former Oasis members, the band has no problem booking tour dates in the UK, US, and EU. While with the band, Noel has won an NME Award for “Godlike Genius” (2012).
