Nuno Bettencourt is a popular guitarist, singer, songwriter, and music producer, best known as the lead guitarist of the Boston rock band Extreme. He was born as Buno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt, on September 20, 1966, in Praia da Vitoria, Portugal. Nuno Bettencourt would first join the band Extreme in 1985 and the band released its debut record called Extreme, four years later. He provided Janet Jackson the rhythm guitar on her single version of Black Cat which became the number one hit on Billboard Hot 100. In 1997, a solo album by Bettencourt was released by the name of Schizophonic after he decided to leave Extreme in 1996 to focus on a solo career. He would also go on to play as a part of numerous bands including Mourning Widows, Population 1, DramaGods, The Satellite Party, and others. In 2007, he got back to Extreme to record new music and go on tour.
