Oleg Tinkov is a businessman born on 25th December 1967 in Polysayevo, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He is widely known for his network of businesses, including the frozen food factories Daria, household appliances shops Technoshock, a record label Shock Records, a music store, Music Shock, and a network of restaurants. He is also the founder and former chairman of the Russian commercial bank Tinkoff Bank.
As of 2016, the bank ranked number 45 in assets. In 2019, he was diagnosed with leukemia and had surgery in 2021. Following his diagnosis, he stepped down from his management role. In 2020, he founded a charity fund for people who suffered from leukemia and invested $200 million of his own money. In April 2022, he sold his 35% stake in Tinkoff following pressure from the Russian government to nationalize the bank.
