Olly Alexander Bio
Olly Alexander, born as Oliver Alexander Thorton on July 15th, 1990 in Sheffield, England began to write music at the age of 10. He began acting in school as well and obtained an agent at 16 when offers for acting jobs began to pile in.
In 2008 Olly began his acting career in the film Summerhill. In 2013 he started as Peter Pan in the West End production of Peter and Alice. In 2014 he appeared on the tv show Penny Dreadful as the vampire Fenton.
Olly formed his band, Year & Years, in 2010. The released their debut single “Traps” which garnered critical acclaim from BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 as well as online publications The Guardian and The Fader. In 2014 the band released their second single called “Real.” The video to the song received 8.5 million views online and the group ended up signing with the label Polydor. Olly and his group’s next single, “King,” charted in at number 1 on the UK Singles Charts in 2015. Following this success they released their debut album Communion.
