Oscar Davey-Wraight, popularly known as Opiuo, is an electronic dance music artist, producer, and DJ born in 1984 in Ngatimoti, New Zealand. His music blends funk, soul, psychedelia, and bass genres. He became prominent in 2009 after releasing his debut EP, Physical Symptoms, through Addictech.
The following year, he released his debut album, Slurp and Giggle. He has performed at festivals and venues, including Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Electric Forest, Splendour In The Grass, Coachella, Forum Melbourne, and Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre. His performance takes different formats, including SYZYGY Orchestras, symphony choirs, a band, and an immersive solo show.
The Australia-based artist has released over four albums, 10 EPs, and several singles and remixes. He has remixed tracks for artists like Infected Mushroom, Gwen Stefani, Kimbra, Pretty Lights, and Kaya Project. Opiuo won the New Zealand Music Award for Best Electronic Album in 2014 for his 2013 Meraki album. Likewise, he was nominated for the award for his 2016 Omniversal. In 2019, he released the EP, SYZYGY 02, via his label Slurp Music. His latest album is A Shape Of Sound.
