Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark is an English electronic band formed in 1978 in Wirral, Merseyside, England. They released their debut single named Electricity in 1979 and gained instant popularity around the UK and Europe. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark have released several studio albums but their third album, named Architecture & Morality is one of their most popular ones. Their single named Enola Gay, after the plane that dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, is one of their hit singles of all time. In 1989, the band broke down and it was Andy McCluskey who was left alone to continue the work of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. He released a solo album under the name of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark called Sugar Tax, however, he retired from the band as well in 1996. In 2006, the band was reformed, now releasing three albums.
