Patrick Bruce Metheny, better known by his artistic name Pat Metheny, was born on August 12, 1954, in Kansas City, United States. Both of his parents had an affinity for music and encouraged him to explore the music world. At the age of fifteen years old, he went to a jazz camp where he met his mentor the guitarist Attila Zoller. In 1976 he released in collaboration with drummer Bruce Ditmas, pianist Paul Bley, and bassist Jaco Pastorius an album through Improvising Artists Inc label. In 1976 he also released his debut album “Bright Size Life” through ECM Records. He has won some awards and honorary titles such as the Echo Award for Best Guitar Instrumentalist, and the honorary title of Doctorate of Music, from Berklee College of Music.
