Patrick Watson is a Canadian songwriter, singer and musician, known for his experimental approach to music. He was born on the 8th of October, 1979, in Montreal, Quebec. Watson began his musical career at high school as the guitarist of the ska band Gangster Politics. In 2007, he co-wrote and performed on many tracks of The Cinematic Orchestra’s album “Ma Fleur”. He released his debut solo album “Waterproof9” in 2009. He later founded an eponymous band alongside musicians Simon Angell, Robbie Kuster, and Mishka Stein. Their first album released as a band was “Close to Paradise” which won the 2007 Polaris Music Prize, over Arcade Fire’s “Neon Bible” and Julie Doiron’s “Woke Myself Up”. In 2015, they released “Love Songs for Robots” an experimental electro pop album inspired by the 1982 movie “Blade Runner”. The title track’s official video was directed by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, who are both Academy Award nominated directors.
