Patti Smith Bio

Born in Chicago, Illinois on December 30, 1946, Patti Smith had a large include in the punk rock scene in New York City. Her most popular album is called Horses which includes the song Land of a Thousand Dances and Gloria. She formed the Patti Smith Group in 1974. Smith wrote Seventh Heaven, a book of poetry in 1972. She published the collection Early Morning Dream in the same year and Witt, the year after. She also wrote for Rolling Stones and Creem. Smith released another album in 1976 Radio Ethiopia followed by Easter in 1978 which includes the single Because the Night which was co-written by Bruce Springsteen. In 1979, his fourth album Wave was released, and in 1988 she collaborated with her husband Fred Smith in the album Dream of Life.
